    Silkscreen on sweatshirt

Nora Turato’s work spans performance, painting, installation, bookmaking, and graphic design, typically braiding language from the clogged drains of the internet into poignant rants, pitches, and provocations. Fresh from pool 5, her performance series at the Museum of Modern Art, and her solo exhibition at 52 Walker, New York (both 2022), Turato closes the year with a limited edition sweatshirt designed especially for SculptureCenter that reads, on two sides: govern me harder and i govern you good. It’s the perfect uniform for an age contending with the dynamics of domination and consent, and the troublesome ways that they surface in our political and personal lives. Evocative of nostalgic highway signage, product design, and marketing aesthetics, Turato’s govern me harder / i govern you good extends her work’s electric interventions into the language of power in everyday life.
