The Fortune Society is a non-profit based in Long Island City supporting people’s successful reentry from incarceration. Fortune’s Creative Arts Program hosts weekly writers’ workshops and open mic sessions, and partners with cultural institutions throughout New York City to support several public events each year offering opportunities for participating writers to perform their words for a wider audience. In addition, a yearly publication, Voices of Fortune, celebrates the work of participants in the Fortune writing and art workshops.
