Share Screen: Artist Studio Visits

Join SculptureCenter’s Ambassador and Director’s Circle patrons for a new virtual program series called Share Screen: Artist Studio Visits, which connects our patrons over Zoom to an international roster of artists we’ve worked with. Share Screen studio visits offer intimate opportunities to engage with others excited by our mission and allow direct dialogue with some of the most innovative artists working today.
Each month, our patrons go beyond our four walls to join SculptureCenter curators for intimate discussions with artists based far and wide. Participating artists will broadcast from their permanent or temporary studios and address how they are creating in the current climate.

Studio Visit with Fiona Connor
Wednesday, March 17 at 5pm EST on Zoom
Los Angeles-based artist Fiona Connor will join us from her native New Zealand to discuss objects of everyday life and our relationships to them. The artist, whose practice exists at the intersection of architecture, sculpture and installation, recently exhibited at SculptureCenter with Closed for installation, Fiona Connor, SculptureCenter, #4, her first solo exhibition in a New York institution. The exhibition was curated with Interim Director Kyle Dancewicz who will lead our Zoom discussion with the artist. We’ll hear about how she remakes overlooked everyday objects while considering where they come from, what they are made out of, who makes them and for whom, as well as the relationships that the artist initiates and maintains in order to reproduce and re-present the objects as works of art.

Studio Visit with Rindon Johnson
Tuesday, February 23 at 12pm EST on Zoom
Join SculptureCenter Curator-at-Large Sohrab Mohebbi for a studio visit and discussion with artist and writer Rindon Johnson. The artist is based in Berlin, Germany, where he is an Associate Fellow of Media Art and Virtual Reality at the Universität der Künste Berlin, Berlin Centre for Advanced Studies in Arts and Sciences. This studio visit will take place in anticipation of Johnson’s first solo museum exhibition, Law of Large Numbers: Our Bodies, opening at SculptureCenter on March 25. The New York presentation will be followed by a companion exhibition—Law of Large Numbers: Our Selves—with overlapping, reconfigured, and additional works at Chisenhale Gallery, London, opening fall 2021. As a multidisciplinary artist as well as a writer and poet, Johnson shows us how supposed virtual and actual realities are integrated, and how art has historically been instrumental in sustaining simultaneous other realities.
