SculptureCenter is excited to return to New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) as an exhibitor in Miami to feature a newly commissioned series by Jesse Wine. Purchase your tickets online now and visit us at booth 7.15.

Jesse Wine’s The enigma of a night is a series of ten unique ceramic works created exclusively for SculptureCenter. Each handcrafted sleeping head has an opening in the back to reveal a diorama of carefully arranged objects creating a dream scene unique to each work. Primarily working in clay, Wine explores process, color, and form and works with multiple glazing and firing techniques that create richly textured surfaces. Across tabletop and monumental scales, his work enacts dynamics between surface, structure, form, and interior life through wide-ranging approaches to bodily representation in sculpture.

Jesse Wine was born in 1983 in Chester, England. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Recent solo exhibitions include: Prosper, Phantom Limb, Simone Subal Gallery, New York (2017); Sludgy Portrait of Himself, Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge, England (2017); Young man red, Gemeentemuseum, Den Haag, The Netherlands (2016); Working title, not sure yet, Mary Mary, Glasgow, Scotland, UK (2016). Recent group shows include: Hot Pot, GAK, Bremen/ Kunsthaus Hamburg (2018); That Continuous Thing: Artists and the Ceramics Studio, 1920 – Today, Tate St Ives, Cornwall (2017); Opening Night, Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, Rio de Janeiro (2017).
