still.life. (apple) is a highly realistic, lead-filled, bronze painted sculpture. Part of Ugo Rondinone's most recent body of work, and a continuation of the sculptural practice explored in his most recent exhibition We Burn, We Shiver. at SculptureCenter, still.life (apple) alludes to the weight of temporal existence and the human condition. Rondinone, along with Urs Fischer, represented Switzerland at the 2007 Venice Biennial. Rondinone has also made contributions to the 54th Carnegie International, the Lyon Biennial, and Drawing Now: Eight Propositions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Since 2018, commissioned by Liverpool Biennial and Tate Liverpool, Rondinone's public artwork, Liverpool Mountain, has been exhibited in Liverpool. In 2013, he also exhibited an installation called Human Nature, a group of monumental stone figures in Rockefeller Center, New York.
