Join Alexandra Délano Alonso, Thomas Keenan, Sohrab Mohebbi, and Benjamin Nienass for a conversation around listing, remembrance, and the politics of mourning. The program departs from The List, a growing document that traces information related to the deaths of refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants within or on the borders of Europe since 1993, compiled by UNITED for Intercultural Action. Since 2006, in collaboration with curators, art workers, and institutions, Banu Cennetoğlu has facilitated up-to-date and translated versions of The List in several countries using public display structures such as ad-boards and newspaper supplements. The event will also launch SculptureCenter’s Banu Cennetoğlu publication, which includes a joint contribution by Keenan and Mohebbi.

Alexandra Délano Alonso is Associate Professor and Chair of Global Studies at The New School, New York.

Thomas Keenan is Director of the Human Rights Project and Associate Professor of Comparative Literature, Literature, Human Rights Program at Bard College.

Sohrab Mohebbi is Curator at SculptureCenter, New York.

Benjamin Nienass is Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science and Law at Montclair State University, New Jersey.

Catalogs will be available for purchase at SculptureCenter on the evening of the program and online through our Shop.

This program is free and open to the public but RSVP is required.
